Doha gets set as swimmers arrive for FINA/airweave World Cup

swimming-in.jpgDOHA, October 3, 2017 - The Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) has completed all preparations to host the 5th round of the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup, which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at the Hamad Aquatic Center with the participation of 153 swimmers from various countries.

Delegations participating in the championship have already started arriving in Doha.

The South African team was the first to arrive along with international swimmer Chad le Clos, and the Hungarian team with world champion Katinka Hosszu, besides teams of Russia, Germany, Jamaica, Poland, USA, Netherlands, Australia and Iran.

Some of the FINA board members were received by the local officials. The organising committee will be welcoming the rest of the delegations on Tuesday.

On the same day, the President of Qatar Swimming Association Khaleel al Jaber, along with a number of officials from the international federation and swimmers participating in the tournament, will be briefing the media.

The Qatar contingent at the World Cup will be of 12 swimmers.

The FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup 2017 includes eight legs in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

This year, the competition kicked off on August 2 in Moscow and will conclude on November 19 in Singapore.

Berlin, Hong Kong, Doha, Beijing, and Tokyo complete the list of host cities for 2017.
