DOHA, October 21, 2017-The Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) intensified its ongoing preparations for the Qatar Classic Squash Tournament.
Most of the top players of the world are featuring in the five-day event, which will be held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from October 29.
Tariq Zainal, QTSBF Secretary-General and tournament director, said the tournament is a major fixture in the world and is important for the top players in terms of gaining valuable points and improving their rankings. He added that the prize money of the World Series event tournament has also been increased by QTSBF President Nasser al-Khelaifi to $165,000 this year.
The QTSBF has awarded a wild card to Qatari player Abdulla al-Tamimi, the world's No. 42, in the main round, while six other Qatar players will take part in the qualifying rounds. The winner of the event will take home $24,225 and the runner-up stands to gain $14,820.
