QOC celebrates World Walking Day

DOHA, October 27, 2017 - The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) organized sport celebration on the occasion of World Walking Day Anniversary at the Park of the Museum of Islamic Art on Thursday.

The global one-day sport event which is organized under the umbrella of the Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA) brought together students from different schools across the country and elite former Qatari athletes.

An estimated 500 students representing 20 schools in Qatar took part in the festival, beside a number of former Qatari football stars including goalkeeper Hussain Al Rumaihi, striker Abdulaziz Hassan and defender Jassim Al Tamimi.

Thursday's festival aims to popularize the concept of “Sport For All " among local community members and maximize their awareness on the sport in general and Walking in particular.

The prestigious one day sport event has received an overwhelming turnout and saw considerable participation from students , athletes, sport stars and society individuals.

In a post-event press release on Thursday, captain Hussain Al Rumaihi appreciated QOC efforts and named the walking sport as strong message to all young generation , students and community members, called on all parties to engage in this event annually.

In the closing scene, the TAFISA's participation certificates were distributed among all participants respectively.
