DOHA, January 03, 2018 – The Organizing Committee of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) stepped up technical and managerial efforts to stage the SOP finals at the Aspire Zone in April .
The Organizing Committee chaired by HE Rabea Al Kaabi, the President of Qatar School Sports Federation (QSSF) has promised that this year edition will be exceptional and amid considerable participation from government and private schools.
Also in a press release on Tuesday , the Directors of SOP competitions confirmed that all tables and schedules related to the finals of the prestigious event have been prepared.
According to these tables the SOP final competitions including football, basketball, volleyball, Tennis, fencing, gymnastics, table tennis, swimming, Taekwondo beside the competitions of people with special needs will take place in April.
An estimated 214 boys schools (including 119 government schools and 98 private schools) along with 186 girls schools (105 government schools and 81 private schools) are participating in this edition.
The SOP is held annually as a collaborative effort of Qatar School Sports Federation (QSSF) and Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with hundreds of student athletes competing from all over Qatar.
The SOP committee aims to spread a culture of sports throughout Qatar's schools and to engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
