Qatar to host opening round of 2019 ITTF World Tour
Lausanne, June 3, 2018- The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced that the state of Qatar will host the opening round of the 2019 World Tour Platinum.
The ITTF also announced that other five countries to host the tour to begin in March 2019.
In 2018, the state of Qatar hosted the second round of the ITTF world tour in March. The event featured the participation of 220 players from 43 countries.
Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association said that selecting the state of Qatar to host the first round of the ITTF World Tour is an achievement for the Association and for the Qatari Table Tennis in General.
The ITTF's Head of World Tour Vicky Eleftheriade said "We are pleased to see more interest in the World Tour from hosts and other partners each year, and we will continue to push the Tour forward to ensure growth in terms of popularity and commercially."
