Qatar beach volleyball team qualify to Asian championships final
Maoming, China, May 12, 2019-Qatar's Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse entered the final of the Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships in Maoming after thrashing third-seeds Wu Jiaxin and Ha Likejiang 2-0 (21-16 21-12) in the semifinals on Saturday.
The defending champions, who have been in roaring form, had earlier defeated another Chinese pair Yan Tingyang and Li Jie 2-0 (21-13 21-12).
Tijan and Younousse will meet Gao Peng and Li Yang, who are looking to win China's first gold medal in five years.
Gao and Li made a strong start on Saturday with a convincing 2-0 (21-15 21-13) win against Li Zhuoxin and Zhou Chaowei in the all-Chinese quarterfinal. In the semifinals Gao and Li defeated Aussies Cole Durant and Damien Schumann 2-0 (21-13 21-14).
Durant and Schumann will play Wu and Ha in the bronze medal playoff.
