Qatar's Barshim wins second place at London Diamond League
LONDON, July 22, 2019 - Qatar high jumper Mutaz Barshim finished second at the IAAF Diamond League here on Sunday .
Syria's Majd Eddin Ghazal won the men's high jump with a leap of 2.30m, beating world champion Mutaz, who returned to action after 13 months.
The 28-year-old Qatari leapt 2.27m while Bulgaria's Tihomir Ivanov came third (2.24m).
The men's high jump featured world leader Ilya Ivanyuk who topped 2.33m in Szekesfehervar (Hungary) nine days ago, but Mutaz, 2017 World Athlete of the Year, who was in the spotlight after he made his first Diamond League appearance more than a year.
