Texas, July 06, 2023 (QNA) - Qatar national football team will face their Panama counterpart on Saturday as part of quarterfinals of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup hosted by the US and Canada from June 24 - July 16.
Qatar had advanced to the quarterfinals after a 1-0 win over the Mexican team that already clinched advancement.
In other quarterfinal matches, the United States will meet Canada, while Guatemala will face Jamaica and Mexico will take on Costa Rica.
The Qatari national team had arrived in Dallas from California in preparation for the match against Panama. The match will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Dallas, west of Texas, on Saturday, July 8.
Qatar faced Panama in the group stage of the last tournament in 2021, when the match ended in a 3-3 draw. Qatar's goals were scored by Akram Afif in the 48th minute, Al Moez Ali in the 53rd minute and Hassan Al Haidous in the 63rd minute, while those of Panama were scored by Rolando Blackburn in the 51st minute, 58th minute and Eric Davis in the 79th minute.
Qatar are featuring at the Gold Cup as a guest side for the second time at a special invitation from Concacaf under the cooperation agreement with the Qatar Football Association.
