On Behalf of HH the Amir, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Attends Opening Ceremony of Islamic Solidarity Games

KONYA, Turkey - On behalf of the HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the opening ceremony of the 5th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, which was held in the Turkish city of Konya on Tuesday evening in the presence of HE President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a number of presidents of Islamic states, heads of governments and guests.

During his attendance of the ceremony, HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir to HE the President of the sisterly Republic of Turkey, and His Highness's wishes to the brotherly Turkish people of further progress and prosperity.

For his part, HE the Turkish President entrusted HE Sheikh Joaan with his greetings to HH the Amir, wishing His Highness good helth and happiness, and the Qatari people further progress, development and prosperity.

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the dinner banquet hosted by HE Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in honor of the guests of the opening ceremony of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games.

The State of Qatar is represented in the Games by 112 athletes in 14 group and individual games.
