Konya, Turkey – Qatar Athletics Federation President Mr. Mohammed Issa Al Fadala has described on Monday athletics team performance as incredible after they won seven medals, including three gold, three silver and one bronze at the ongoing fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Turkish city of Konya.
“ We are truly happy with our athletics team performance and results, it was our best ever participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games and we shall chase down more achievements and podiums ”. said Mr Al Fadala.
On the other hand, Qatar men's 3x3 basketball team suffered a 11-12 defeat at the hands of Senegal on Monday to lose their chance of qualifying to the next round.
In swimming competitions, Qatar's Abdulaziz Al Obaidly occupied the 6th place at men's 200m breaststroke event.
This fifth edition of Islamic Solidarity Games is running from 9th to 18th of August with participation of approximately 6000 athletes from 58 countries.
The state of Qatar is participating in 14 sport disciplines, including basketball, volleyball, handball, cycling, athletics, swimming, shooting, Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, weightlifting, wrestling, fencing and gymnastics.
