DOHA, August 30, 2017-First time in the 500 years of Curling history Qatari players participated in the World Curling Federation annual Camp held in Prague between 20-24 August 2017.
The four players squad practiced on- and off-Ice, learnt about strategy, tactics, team dynamics, preparations and developed their technical skills on Ice as well.
Among the 62 players from 16 Countries around the World the Qatari athletes were the only players from Arabic Country and from Middle East. Qatar is playing a Pioneer leading role to establish this indoor Winter Olympic Sport in the Region.
With this camp the 2017-2018 season has started and the Qatari teams are preparing for the main Continental event the Pacific Asia Curling Championships which will be held in November in Australia. The participated athletes: Maryam Ali BinAli, Hanan Al-Boinin, Mabarka Al-Abdulla and Abdulrahman Qassim Alyafei. Coach: Lajos Belleli.
“It was such a great experience for all of us and we will be transferring this in our next tournament. We are now more confident about we are doing and in making decisions on ice than we were during our previous tournament" Said Hanan Al-Boinin after the Camp.
