Al Doussari, Al Abd to lead Qatar’s Challenge in Asian Para Games

Jakarta, October 12, 2018 - Qatar's mission of people with special needs will conclude Friday its participation in the Asian Para Games, which is taking place in Indonesia until October 13.

There are more than 3000 athletes from 43 countries competing in 18 different sports. Qatar's two athletes Dubais Khalifa Al Doussari and Mohammed Ali Al Abd will compete in Javelin and shot put events.

Sarah Masoud for her part came fifth yesterday in the f33 category, recording a best of 8 meters and 72 cm. She had previously won silver in the Rio Paralympics, become the first ever Qatari female athlete to win a Paralympic medal.

Abdulqader Abdulrahman was 12th in the f33 category, achieving a best of 24 meters and 59 cm. Abdulrahman was also the first Qatari athlete to win a Paralympic medal, when he won silver in Rio in 2016 for Javelin. He won gold in the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London for the same category.

His coach said after the competition that Abdulrahman's result was expected, given that shot put was not his main sport.
