Al-Shamal and Al-Khor record wins in HH the Emir Basketball Cup

​DOHA, April 4, 2018-Mathew Bryan-Amaning scored 31 points and Mansour Elhadry chipped in with 20 as Al Shamal strolled past Al Sadd in the HH the Emir Basketball Cup yesterday.

At the Gharafa Sports Club, Al Shamal made a fast start and led for 39 minutes to completely dominate their rivals who failed to mount a fight at any stage.

Dominic James with 16 and Elhag Ali Saleh with 14 also made useful contributions for Al Shamal who won all quarters and led 76-55 going into the final 10 minutes. Darrius Shabaaz Oldham's waged almost a lone battle for Al Sadd but his match-high 35 points were to no avail in the final analysis.

Oldham excelled from the three-point mark, drilling six out of eight attempts. Captain Musfata Fouda had 16 points and Nasser Khalifa al-Rayes 11 for Al Sadd. At one stage of the match in the third session Al Shamal led by a whopping 24 points (67-43). Their bench also excelled with 16 points, while no substitute scored a point for Al Sadd.

In another match, Al Khor edged out Al Gharafa 77-74 in a tense match which was decided in the final minute. Al Gharafa led after the first two quarters but Al Khor sneaked ahead 57-52 after the third and held on to clinch victory. Khobi Williamson top scored for Al Khor with 18 points while Mustafa lasheen had 16 and Dominique Lacy 15. Travis Franklin was the match's highest scorer with 29 although he ended up on the losing side. Sammy Monroe with 26 made a substantial contribution but none of the other players could manage double digit scores.
