DOHA, November 25, 2017 - Popular Australian rider Edwina Tops-Alexander completed a perfect double with two exceptional performances on Friday at the Qatar Equestrian Federation's (QEF's) Outdoor Arena.
The experienced rider guided her eight-year-old mare Veronese Teamjoy to a flawless routine to secure top honours in the feature event of the second day of QNB Al Rayyan International Show Jumping Championship and made sure she double her joy by recording the third fastest time in the event with Inca Boy Van T Vianahof.
In the 145cm class, Veronese Teamjoy completed an error-free routine in 72.51 seconds as the popular star grabbed a prize cheque worth €15,450 to book her place in the FEI World Cup competition number-9.
Russia's Vladimir Tuganov, astride Suspens Floreval, enjoyed his second silver medal in the championship, following a routine which lasted 74.13 seconds and saw no errors. Tuganov got richer by €12,360.
Astride Inca Boy Van T Vianahof, Tops-Alexander clocked 75.32 seconds to win the third position along with her second prize cheque of the day, worth €9,270.
Earlier, in the 120cm class, Qatari teenager Obaid Ali Al Sanari guided his 15-year-old gelding Quentin to an errorless routine to bag the top prize of €1,500 after clocking a time of 31.62 seconds.
Casanova S C H, with Uzbekistan's Saidamirkhon Turgunboev in the saddle, clocked the second fastest time of 33.59 seconds to win the second place with a prize cheque worth €1,200 while Latino 291, ridden by Qatar's Ahmed Mohammed Al Badi, was the third fastest in the event.
Latino 291 completed the routine in 33.64 seconds to win €900 in prize money. Later, in the 135cm class, Qatari rider Rashid Towaim Al Marri completed another clean routine on Chupa Chups 12 to win the event.
Chupa Chups 12 clocked a time of 35.96 seconds to finish the round as Al Marri walked away with a prize cheque worth €2,500. Loki Doki, with Ali Al Khorafi in the saddle, completed the task in 36.17 seconds. The Kuwaiti rider, who was riding under the FEI flag, won the second place along with €2,000 in prize money.
Siec Cosmos Wijngaardhoeve Z, ridden by Qatar's Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi was placed third. He spent 36.41 seconds to complete the routine and won €1,500 in prize money. The championship which is organised by the Qatar Equestrian Federation, concludes today.
