Clarke wins Qatar F3 Futures title

DOHA, March 19, 2018- Jay Clarke of Britain claimed the title of Qatar F3 Futures organized by the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) in cooperation with the International Tennis Federation at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

In the final match held on Saturday, Jay Clarke defeated Pietro Rondoni of Italy 6-1, 7-5 to secure the title.

Last week, Clarke reached the final match of Qatar F2 Futures but he suffered a defeat at the hands of Benjamin Hassan of the Germany.

In Doubles Event, Fajing Sun of China and Chun Hun Wong of Hong Kong hoisted the trophy following their victory over the Czech duo of Marek Gengel and Matej Vocel 6-3 6-3.

The QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal and Director of Local Tournaments Sultan Khalfan attended the medal ceremony.

The QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal congratulated Jay Clarke on his victory and said: “The three tournaments brought together a huge number of young athletes who are aiming at collecting more ranking points."

“The futures tournaments give the chance to our players take their first steps in their professional careers," he added.

Meanwhile, the competitions of Qatar ITF Junior Tournament for boys and girls under 18 years will begin today at Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex. The Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation will host a similar tournament later this month with participation of a large number of players representing different nations.

Rayyan Al Jefairi and Ghanim Al Khelaifi will represent the state of Qatar in this tournament.

The tournaments will provide the players with opportunity to take their first steps in their professional careers.
