Curtains come down on Artistic Gymnastics World Championships
Doha, November 4, 2018- The competitions of the 2018 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships came to an end at Aspire Dome on Saturday.
The event featured the participation of 700 players from 78 countries.
Simone Biles of the USA entered into the record books after she won the floor gold. Biles claimed the first place with 14.933 points followed by compatriot Morgan Hurd (13.933) and Japan's Mai Murakami (13.866).
China's Liu Tingting uncorked a huge surprise in the women's balance beam final when she won the gold.
The 18-year-old (14.533), who came in the last rotation, not only overcame World Championship rookie Ana Padurariu by 0.433 points for the title and also denied superstar Simone Biles of USA (13.600) her fourth gold in the competition.
Olympic champion Ri Se Gwang of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea lived up to his reputation after he won the men's vault final.
Gwang tallied an impressive 14.933 amid thunderous applause from the Korean fans.
Russian Federation's Dalaloyan (14.883) took the silver while there was further disappointment of Japan's Kenzo Shirai, who failed to defend the title.
Shirai, who finished third in floor on Friday, had to be content with bronze (14.675).
Epke Zonderland of the Netherlands won gold of Men's horizontal bar in the men's apparatus final while Zou Jingyuan of China claimed the gold medal of parallel bars.
