FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup to begin on Wednesday

DOHA, March 19, 2019- The 12th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup will begin at Aspire Academy on Wednesday.

Since this individual apparatus competition will also form the basis of qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) has received confirmation from a large number of gymnasts.

QGF, which is holding this event for the 12th consecutive year, will thus see a total participation of 128 male and 60 female gymnasts from 57 countries at the four-day event.

The state of Qatar will be represented by three players including Ahmed Al Dayani, Ahmed Mousa and Raslan Saoud.

Having organised the 48th FIG World Gymnastics Championships at the Aspire Dome last October (the first of its kind to be staged by an Arab nation and in the region), the QGF has already received kudos for its excellent organisation and hosting with the event being termed as the 'best-ever' edition of the Worlds.

The tournament director Abeer Al Buenain stressed that the promotional campaign of the event has reaped its fruits as the federation has completed its arrangements to host the event.
