Since 1979 Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has been leading the Olympic movement in Qatar. It is one of 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) currently recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
In the heart of the sports events, QOC is committed to be the change and the pioneer of sustainable Sport development in Qatar, striving for SPORT with PURPOSE.
QOC recognises its duty to demonstrate leadership in the field of event sustainability management by conducting its event-related activities in line with the ISO 20121 Standard by:
- Satisfying all standard and IOC requirements and Ensuring compliance with relevant national and international legal and other requirements as well as best practices;
- Providing a framework for setting sustainable development objectives that are aligned with the United Nations (UN) sustainability goals (SDG) and IOC Agenda and that are supported by the principles of sustainable development. We define these as inclusivity, integrity, stewardship, transparency and legacy as referenced within our Statement of Purpose and Values;
- Optimizing all processes of the event management cycle, from conception and planning to implementation, review and post-event activities;
- Reducing Environmental impact, boosting economic growth and building sustainable communities;
- Taking significant actions and changes in these key areas: Communication, procurement, health and safety, energy, water, air, waste, community, mobility, transport, food, housekeeping, and venues;
- Focusing on integrating sustainability throughout our supply chain management;
- Organizing dialogue with stakeholders and all interested parties to raise their awareness,ensure their support, inputs and feedback;
- Reinforcing stakeholder engagement and collaboration efforts as they are core to how we are executing our strategies and actions within our Sustainability Framework;
- Lifting our performance by conducting audits, measuring and monitoring our progress against sustainability principles and objectives;
- Improving continually our event sustainability management system each year and each event;
- Fulfilling the necessary resources needed to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our event sustainability management system;
- Empowering our employees and sustainability champions by supporting education initiatives, providing training, leveraging their knowledge and transferring legacy;

OUR STATEMENT
It is the policy of QOC Procurement Department to identify and manage the environmental, social and
economic impacts within QOC supply chain. We work to fulfil our sustainability sourcing promises by:
- Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
- Setting objectives and action plans in support of this policy, and pursuing continual improvement of our practices bases on ISO 20400
- Prioritising suppliers who have adopted sustainable and ethical practices within their organisation and who drive such practices within their own supply chain
Through supplier selection, evaluation, and engagement channels, we will favour suppliers that actively:
- Reduce their environmental Impact through:
- Conservation of resources, including the use of energy, water and materials
- Waste minimisation, both within their operations and through reduction of packaging
- Reducing the impact of deliveries and foot print
- maximising local sourcing
- Deliver benefits to our community through:
- Complying with International Labour Organization (ILO) principles in respect to human rights and conditions of employment
- Ensuring that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any of their supply chains and in any part of their business
- Encourage suppliers which implement social responsibility practices
- Drive economic growth through:
- Supporting job creation and facilitating opportunities for small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and social businesses

Based on the vision of the Qatar Olympic Committee to achieve sustainable sports development, the Committee is committed to applying the principles of knowledge management efficiently and effectively in its implementation of initiatives and institutional operations aimed at producing and disseminating knowledge, developing human capital, and enhancing the transfer of knowledge through:
- Implementing and developing the knowledge management system in accordance with a clear and specific vision to achieve the strategic goals of the Qatar Olympic Committee and providing the necessary support to ensure their achievement.
- Ensuring the sustainability of knowledge according to standards that serve knowledge management and includes initiatives to preserve, disseminate, share and develop knowledge in the Qatar Olympic Committee.
- Involving all employees effectively and efficiently in building the identity and culture of the Qatar Olympic Committee to adopt the best international practices in the field of knowledge management, in order to establish a lasting impression among those concerned about the level of quality provided by the Qatar Olympic Committee.
- Ensuring a balance between disseminating knowledge and protecting it with regard to the areas of knowledge in the Qatar Olympic Committee.
- Comply with regulatory and other requirements related to the knowledge management system, and work continuously to improve the system through continuous review of performance levels and achieving goals in a way that contributes to developing knowledge management performance.
