IAAF World Athletics Championships to give students lifetime chance to be part of the event

DOHA, May 20, 2019 - In the frame of Doha's ongoing preparations to host the prestigious IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, the Local Organizing Committee will deliver a unique opportunity to thousands of school students to play a vital role in the event which is scheduled in Doha for the first ever time in the Middle East.

School students from different age groups are due to participate in a batch of activities will be held in the frame of preparations for the event, they will show their talents in story writing, sport reports, sport interviews with top world athletes who will arrive in Doha in September.

In bid to encourage students display their creativity in sport flavor, students from age groups 5 to 18 will involve in creative drawing competitions shall later be posted on Khalifa International Stadium.

Speaking on the program, Vice President and Director General of the IAAF World Athletics Championships Local Organising Committee Dahlan Al Hamad, said “Sport has a special ability to bring people and individuals together under its umbrella, where cultures are united under its flag"

“Our efforts will help promote sport in general and athletics in particular among the children and young people of the state Qatar" he added.

For her part, Sheikh Asmaa Al Thani, Director of Marketing and Communication at the Local Organising Committee said, “Everyone in Doha from different nationalities and ages are excited for the World Athletics Championship. The school program will help bring students closer to each other before the start of the championships that will witness the participation of the best athletes from 213 countries"
