Taipei, August 10, 2018 – Qatar continued their winning streak with a convincing 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-16) victory over Thailand on the second day of the 2018 AVC Volleyball Cup on Thursday.
Thailand were able to keep up with Qatar in the first two sets, but Qatar were more seasoned in catching the key points at the very end of the sets as they captured the first two sets with the same margin 25-23 25-23.
Down by 0-2, Thailand head coach fielded more players from the bench with different tactics in set 3 and tried to bring the game back. However, Qatar led 8-4 at the 3rd set beginning and advantaged to the end, although Mohamed Ibrahim (#16) received a Red Card for arguing with the referee.
“We are getting better day by day. We are happy that we win this game. In the third set, it seems like that Thais gave up this match," said by Qatar head coach Soto Camilo.
With the record of two 3-0 wins, Qatar are assured of topping the pool C, while Thailand and Vietnam will compete against each other Friday afternoon for the second place of the pool.
