Muscat, July 17, 2018- Qatar Handball Team kicked off its 16th edition of the Asian Men's Junior (U19) Handball Championship in Salalah Oman, with a wide victory over Syria by ten goals after finishing the match with a 36-26.
The Qatari team dominated the match from start to finish and kept the score difference, which settled for most of the time in its favor with eleven goals, and therefore Algerian coach Shoaib Kefi involved the largest number of players to initiate them to the atmosphere of the tournament to preserve the balance of the team and enable the team to lead the match to safety and to maintain the score difference until the end of the match.
The Director of Qatar Youth Handball Team Issa Al Mulla, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the players and the result of the team's first match in the Asian Championship against Syria.
Al Mulla said that although the Syrian team is not one of the known teams in the world of handball and is also not among the candidates to achieve good ranking, but the Syrian team played well during the match but under the full control of our team.
Al Mulla stressed that Qatar awaits another task in the next match against the Iraqi team on Wednesday and we hope that our players perform with the same strength and seriousness and they will control the match.
The opening day of the tournament witnessed a number of matches which resulted in Iran beating India 48/17, South Korea also beat Lebanon 45/31, while Saudi Arabia and China Taipei match ended with Saudi Arabia winning 41/30. (
