Doha, March 29, 2020-The Qatar Taekwondo, Judo & Karate Federation (QTJKF) announced on Sunday that it has postponed the 2020 IJF Masters which was scheduled to take place from 28-30 May in Doha in line with the protective measures taken by the state of Qatar to limit the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The QTJKF's decision to postpone the event came upon the request of the International Judo Federation (IJF), where the championship’s new date will be confirmed later.
It is worth mentioning that the QTJKF announced that it will host the event, after it has signed an agreement with the IJF in Hungary’s capital of Budapest in October 2018.
The event, which will feature the participation of the world's 16 top seeds of each weight, will act as a qualifying tournament for 2020 Tokyo Olympics which has been postponed for next year.
Doha will host the 2023 World
Judo Championships which will serve as a qualifying tournament for 2024 Olympic
Games. The event will bring together more than 117 countries.
