Qatari divers return home with three medals
DOHA, September 13, 2017 - Qatari divers returned home on Tuesday with an impressive haul of three medals from the Asian Age-Group Aquatics Championships, which came to an end in Tashket, Uzbekistan on Monday.
Mohamed Ahmed Shweitar followed his bronze medal with a second place in the 10m Platform event.
Qatar, in all, bagged one gold and one bronze in the springboard events and a silver in the platform event.
A warm welcome was accorded to the team upon their arrival at the Hamad International Airport. Khaleel Ibrahim al Jaber, the President of Qatar Swimming Association (QSA), appreciated the national team's achievement and expressed hopes that the divers would continue to bring more laurels for the country in future.
Qatar's Dhoha al Habashi claimed the All-Around brone medal at the Arab Gymnastics in Beirut, Lebanon.
Habashi also qualified to the finals of other events including Uneven Bars, Vault, Floor Exercise and Balance Beam.
Ali al Hitmi, President of Qatar Gymnastics Association and Secretary-General of the Qatar School Sports Association, extended his thanks to the Qatar Olympic Committee for its support to the Qatari athletes.
Hitmi also lauded the Qatari gymnasts for their results in the championship.
