Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad attends CHI Al-Shagab 2019 Opening Round
DOHA, March 8, 2019 - His Excellency, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the president of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) attended on Thursday the kick off of the 6th edition of the prestigious CHI Al Shaqab 2019 at Al Shaqab arena in Doha.
The prestigious championship is organized by Al Shaqab (Qatar foundation member) and brings together elite horse riders from across the world under the sponsorship of ExxonMobil.
The competitions will last until next Saturday with the participation of 91 horse riders, 139 horses from 32 countries who are competing in the Show Jumping , dressage and para dressage.
On the opening day, 39 riders competed in the show jumping event ( five stars category) at 150 height, where French rider Julien Epaillard claimed the first place, while the Brazilian Yori Mansoor seized the second place.
The opening round witnessed the participation of four Qatari riders, Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani, Bassim Hassan Mohammed, Salmeen Sultan Al Suwaidi and Faleh Suwaid Al Ajmy.
