DOHA, December 27, 2017-The organising committee of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) held a technical meeting on Tuesday with the directors of the competitions.
The meeting focused lights on the latest arrangements for the finals of the SOP competitions.
Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Executive Director of the Qatar School Sport Association (QSSA), Dr. Salah Salem, the QSSA Technical Expert and the directors of the competitions attended the meeting.
An estimated 400 schools of both boys and girls are competing in 11 SOP events including football, handball, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming, athletics, table tennis, fencing, tennis and shooting in the Schools Olympic Program this year.
The SOP is held annually as a collaborative effort of the QSSA and Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with hundreds of student athletes competing from all over Qatar.
The SOP committee aims to spread a culture of sports throughout Qatar's schools and to engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
