Team Qatar to face Iran in Asian Men’s Handball Championship Semifinals

DAMMAM – Defending champions, Qatar handball team  will lock horns against Group 2 runners-up Iran on Saturday  in the last four stage game of the current 2022 Asian Men’s Handball Championship which is taking place in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s city of Dammam. 

The four-time defending Asian champions emerged on top of Group 1 with maximum six points after receiving a walkover from South Korea in their last main-round game. It is their ninth semifinal appearance at the competition.

Most notably, Qatar earlier  defeated hosts Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan, thus made the cut for their fifth straight World Championship after 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021.

Qatari handball team booked their spot at the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship to be held in Poland/Sweden by entering the Asian Championship semifinal in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.
