DOHA - On a festive day full of sport activity and fitness , the students and teaching staff members from different Universities, colleges and high education institutions in Qatar have celebrated the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) on Tuesday.
The event was also attended by H.E Qatar University President Dr. Hassan Rashid Al-Derham , H.E Qatar Collegiate Sport Federation President, Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Naimi , Qatar Collegiate Sport Federation Secretary General, Mr. Rashid Saed Adiba and senior officials from different high education institutions.
In Tuesday’s global event , students and teaching staff members from Qatar University (QU), University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) , Universities of Qatar Foundation and other Universities and high colleges have participated in series of sport programs, physical activities in addition to entertainment, cultural and educational programs , which were held under the supervision of Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF).
On this occasion , the QCSF President Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Naimi highly appreciated students and stakeholders participation and react to the IDUS programs and activities. He said we are in Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation truly happy to start off our debut activity by celebrating the IDUS on a way to promote further sport culture and physical activities inside the high education community.
From his part , the QCSF Secretary General, Mr. Rashid Saed Adiba said this day represented an ideal opportunity could help students show their sport talents and skills locally and internationally and tell the world how greatness of Qatar as a sport loving nation doing all effort to develop human element mentally and physically throughout the sport.
“ We extend message of thanks to all universities, colleges and high education institutions who have been an integral part of this day, hopefully they will play a leading role in promoting the sport culture and encouraging the talented students to serve national teams and build stronger and healthier community for generations to come” added Mr. Adiba
Most notably, IDUS is a key official sport event approved in agenda of the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) and adopted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) , that with purpose of creating links between universities and local communities to develop both health and sport for everyone.
