The World Rugby unanimously approved the Qatari Federation's application, which was submitted a while ago to obtain its membership after it had fulfilled all the requirements and conditions set by the World Rugby. The members of the international federation reviewed the Qatari file and listened to the Qatari Federation's message about the popularity of the game in Qatar and the presence of Rugby as an official sport in the state since 40 years, along with the organization of men's and women's competitions for the two categories "Rugby 15, Rugby 7", in addition to hosting many continental championships and friendly matches, and the availability of stadiums to hold competitions in light of the advanced facilities in Qatar.

Qatar Rugby Federation President Yousef Jaham Al Kuwari said: "On behalf of the Qatar Rugby Federation and all rugby players and fans in the country, we are pleased and honored to become an associate member of World Rugby. With 40 years of rugby in Qatar, this recognition will support the game's growth in our country and hopefully improve our competitiveness on the international stage."
