KONYA – Qatar's Abubaker Abdulla claimed the gold medal of men's 800m event at the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey with a 1:47:59 run, on Wednesday.
Also, on Wednesday, Qatar Musaab Ali clinched the bronze medal of Men's 3000m SC after clocking a time of 9:02:53 minutes.
On the other hand, Qatar's taekwondo star Maram Fatnassi took bronze medal of women’s 67kg event after losing to Iran's Zainab Ismaeli in the semifinals.
Today's medals brought Qatar's tally of medals to 4 including 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals.
In Thursday’s encounters, Qatar’s volleyball team will lock horns against home side Turkey in their second game of group B, which also includes Iran and Pakistan.
Team Qatar aspires to restore their balance against Turkey, after their opening game defeat at the hands of Iran.
In athletics competitions, Qatar’s Ahmed El Seify is ready to raise the scale of challenge when he competes in the Men’s Hammer Throw final on Thursday, as his teammates Mosaab Ali will fight hard in the Men’s 1500m event.
On the same track of seeking a new glory, Qatar’s wrestler Jassim Abdulrahman will compete in the Men’s free wresting heats of 125kg.
This fifth edition of Islamic Solidarity Games is held from 9th to 18th of August with participation of approximately 6000 athletes from 58 countries.
The state of Qatar is participating in 14 sport disciplines, including basketball, volleyball, handball, cycling, athletics, swimming, shooting, Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, weightlifting, wrestling, fencing and gymnastics.
