Qatar in Group A of Asian Men's Handball Qualification for Paris 2024

DOHA, (QNA) - The draw of the Asian Men's Handball Qualification for 33rd Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024) was held on Saturday . The Asian Qualification will take place in Doha from Oct. 18 to 28, 2023.

Qatar was drawn in Group A along with Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the UAE, India and China, while Group B included Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Uzbekistan, Japan and Kazakhstan.

The competition's winner will qualify for the Men's Handball Competition of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

President of the Qatar Handball Association (QHA) Ahmed Al Shaabi, Asian Handball Federation (AHF) Treasurer Bader Mohammed Al Theyab, senior officials from both associations and the representatives of the participating teams attended the draw ceremony.

QHA Secretary General Mohammed Jaber Al Mulla thanked the Asian federation for its confidence in granting the QHA the honor of hosting the qualification.

In a speech during the draw ceremony, Al Mulla hoped that the QHA would organize this continental event in a best way.

He also thanked the Qatar Olympic Committee, headed by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, for the great support for sports in general and handball in particular to host continental and international championships, pointing to the success in organizing many tournaments over the past years.

In his speech, Bader Al Theyab conveyed the greetings of the President and members of the AHF, wishing the State of Qatar success in hosting the Asian Qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics, while expressing confidence in the ability of Qatar's youth to make these qualifications a success due to the great experience they enjoy by hosting various sporting events.

After the draw ceremony, an agreement between the QHA and the AHA to host the qualification was signed by QHA President Ahmed Al Shaabi and AHF Treasurer Bader Al Theyab.
