Abu Dhabi: Qatar swimming team won 5 medals on Friday in the Arab Swimming Championship, which began in the UAE and continues until Monday.
Medals won by Qatar on the first day of the competitions were one gold, two silver and two bronze.
Tamim Mohammed won the gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly event and the bronze medal in the 50-meter backstroke event. Mohammed Mahmoud clinched the silver medal in the 200-meter medley race, and Abdullah Al Khalidi also claimed the silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke race, while Mohammed Jilani won the bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly race.
The event brings together 140 swimmers from 16 countries including; Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Djibouti, Mauritania, Morocco, and Iraq.
